The Creche Inc. has begun a very ambitious project - supplying 400 local students with new backpacks filled with school supplies for the upcoming school year.
The Creche Inc. is a local, nonprofit organization that has been serving children in need in our community for more than 100 years.
Among the many ways that Creche has helped local children in the past is supplying backpacks to area schools for young students who may need them. Last year 50 backpacks were purchased and donated by dedicated members of Creche and distributed to area school administrators and nurses.

This year the need is far greater. Joint Neighborhood Project has closed its doors due to lack of funding. In the past, JNP had donated nearly 300 backpacks to area children, so Creche is attempting to continue their good work of donating filled backpacks to local middle schools as well as the Salvation Army, the YMCA, the Boys and Girls Club and other local organizations.
Creche has already received a very generous donation of 60 filled backpacks from Mary Rapaport and Abbie Lasker, business partners of 59 Lucy Lane, the childhood home of Lucille Ball in Celoron. Anyone from the Jamestown community may help Creche with this special "Back-to-School Backpack" project by dropping new backpacks and/or school supplies at donation boxes located throughout the city at Everydays True Value, First Presbyterian Church and Kmart. Your contributions will be very much appreciated. To help Creche is to help a needy child.
