NORTH WARREN - Jordan Marsh earned the title in the 2013 Men's Steelechase Championship in his first year as a participant at Conewango Valley Country Club on Sunday and did it in dramatic fashion.
The event features the top 14 players at CVCC in a single-elimination format.
Marsh fired an 8-iron 158 yards on the final hole, landing his shot within 15 feet of the cup, then drained a birdie putt to seal the win over runner-up Dick Cole.
Mike Bancroft was third, Jerry Bancroft took fourth place, Andrew Papalia placed fifth, Joe Nelson was sixth, Tony Pellegrino Jr. earned a seventh-place finish, Chris Coombs and Tony Pellegrino Sr. tied for eighth place, Ryan Calkins and Nate Sandberg shared 10th and Tyler Martin, Dave Walde and Joe Bellitto tied for 12th place.
Coombs had the longest drive on No. 9 and Marsh was closest to the pin on No. 16.
