Donald O'Jake Coulter Sr., 84, died Aug. 13, 2013, at his home, where he resided with his daughter and son-in-law, at 907 Prender-gast Ave.
He was born June 14, 1929. in Jamestown, the son of Donald and Gereatha Cobb Coulter.
Also known as "Jake," Don was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, obtaining the rank of sergeant. He was a member of the Boys' Club and Herman Kent Post 638 American Legion.
He was the owner and operator of Don's Reconditioning for many years, and worked hard all his life.
A timid and kind man, he was a good father and friend. He enjoyed bowling and will be remembered for his trademark cigar.
Surviving are his wife, Lori Anderson Coulter; five daughters: Janice Y. (Royce) Duvall, Gloria J. (Wendell) Butler, Darlene S. (Kenneth) Campbell, Joan Ferguson and Princess G. (Timothy) Coulter; nine grandchildren: Tyson, Kevin, Wendell Sr., Levain, William, Ronquike, Keisha, Gabrille, and Chloe; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Coulter; his son, Donald O'Jake Coulter III in 1996; a granddaughter, Ebony Duvall in 2013; and a great great-granddaughter, Samaya Maisonet in 2012.
