The Aug. 22 performance of the Entertainment in the Park Summer Concert Series will feature the Canadian band My Sweet Patootie. Held at Lakeside Park along Route 394 in the village of Mayville, the concert will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Hailing from rural Ontario, My Sweet Patootie is an acoustic roots group bringing vocal harmonies, fingerstyle guitar, sizzling fiddle and percussion in one talented package. Driftwood Magazine described them as "two parts exemplary musicianship, one part vaudeville comedy." The group's members are Terry Young, Sandra Swannell and Bradford Nowak. Young and Swannell started My Sweet Patootie in 2007 as a duo and are both Canadian Folk Music Award winners with a classical music background and a mutual love of swing, Americana and country blues. In 2012 percussionist-vocalist Bradford Nowak joined the group, his extensive background in funk and jazz making him a perfect fit for My Sweet Patootie. Their songs range from heart-breaking ballads to finger-snapping tunes, to fun, folk-jazz with a vintage flavor.
The Entertainment in the Park musical performances are provided free to the public through the sponsorship and support of the town of Chautauqua and village of Mayville. In case of rain, the concert will take place at the Carlson Community Center also located at Lakeside Park. Remember to bring your own seating to the outside performances. A 50/50 drawing will be held at each of the concerts this summer, the winner announced just before the end of the performance.
