NAPOLI - Steven E. Raub Jr., 49, of Allegany Road, Napoli, N.Y., passed away, Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at home from an apparent heart attack.
He was born March 18, 1964, in Salamanca, the son of Steven E. Raub Sr. and Sharon E. Austin Raub.
Steve was a 1982 graduate of Little Valley Central School and was a self-employed horseshoe farrier.
He enjoyed trail-riding horses, bull riding, bowling, playing croquet and volleyball. Steve coordinated a trail-riding event
following the 9/11 terrorist attacks to honor the lives lost. He also attended the Valley View Baptist Church in Little Valley.
He is survived by his mother, Sharon E. Raub, of Napoli; father, Steven E. Raub Sr. and wife Tammy of Hornell, N.Y.; a son, Dylan Raub of Randolph; a sister, Shelley Fish and husband Bob of Little Valley; a brother, Travis Raub of Hornell; and nieces and nephews: Danyle Magiera of Olean, Bob Magiera of Indiana, Denise Twiggs of Oregon, and Finn Raub of Montana.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: infant Shaun Raub and Scott Raub in 2005; maternal grandparents, Maurice A. and F. Elizabeth Swan Austin; and paternal grandparents, Elmer and Lucy Jackson Raub.
The family will receive friends and family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. The Rev. Doyle, pastor of the Valley View Baptist Church in Little Valley, will officiate.
