VENANGO, Pa. - Bob Wood shot a plus 5 to lead Flight A as the McDonald's Senior Golf Tour visited Venango Valley Golf Course on Monday, using the modified Stableford scoring system.
Bill Hart and Dick Woodfield were a stroke back with plus 4s and Wood's 78 was the low gross score.
In Flight B, Don Hustead took first with plus 5, Lynn Butcher and Ed Johnson tied for second place with plus 3s and Jim Wirges was third with plus 2. Hustead led the low gross scores with 84.
Ron Willey shot plus 12 to lead Flight C, Bill Baglia was right behind with plus 10 and Don Maxon followed with plus 9. Baglia carded an 81 for low gross.
Harry Trippett and Sam Pellerito shared the top spot in Flight D with plus 10s and Ted Bilicki was next with plus 9. Trippett also shot an 86 for low gross honors.
In Flight E, David Nichols paced the action with plus 7, Ed Rumiano was one shot back at plus 6 and Boyd Matteson took third with plus 5. Nichols also fired 90 to lead the low gross scores.
Tom Gooch was the winner of Flight F with plus 5 and had the low gross with 106, Tom McConnon and Junie Schenck shared second with plus 4s and Dick Ingraham was third with plus 2.
Closest-to-the-pin winners were Jim Polvino on No. 2, Dick Joslyn on No. 11, Wood on No. 13 and Art Casella on No. 16.
The McDonald's tour will visit both Fox Run Golf Course and Crabapple Ridge Golf Course, both in Waterford, Pa., on Monday with a start time of 9 a.m.
