Janice C. Kohler of 2859 W. Oak Hill Road, Jamestown, died on July 31, 2013, with her daughter and son by her side.
She was born Nov. 19, 1930, in Jamestown, the daughter of Carl E. and Eyra Johnson Anderson.
She attended Jamestown Public Schools and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1948.
Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia L. Ferraro of Web-ster, N.Y.; a son, Scott (Anna Mae) Jones of Clarence Center, N.Y.; and four grandchildren: Erica (Sean) O'Dell of Syracuse, N.Y., Mark Ferraro (Kathleen) of Rochester, N.Y., and Matthew and Carolyn Jones of Clarence, Center, N.Y. She is also survived by a sister, Priscilla (Roger) DuBois of Jamestown; a brother, Donald Anderson of Pittsford, N.Y.; and several nieces and a nephew and great-nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Howard Kohler, whom she married on Oct. 21, 1978; and who died July 13, 1986; her mother who died in 1993 and her father who died in 1997.
A former employee of Moore's Hardware in Frewsburg, and Elkem Me-tals in Niagara Falls, she retired in 1994 as the secretary of the former South Elementary School in the Lewiston Porter Central School District in Youngs-town, N.Y.
Janice was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in James-town, where she served in the church council, worked on several committees and was a member of many organizations of the church. She was also a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Frewsburg, and Grace Lutheran Church in N. Tonawanda, N.Y., and also served on their church council and took part in many of their organizations.
She was a member of Ingjald Lodge No. 65 Order of Vikings, the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club Auxili-ary, and the Lewiston Porter Support Staff Retirees.
An avid reader, she also enjoyed walking, knitting, and spending time with her family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Frewsburg. A memorial service will follow directly at 1 p.m.
