Leona Yvonne Watson, 82, formerly of 1266 Route 394, Falconer, passed away at Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Home in Gerry, N.Y., on July 20, 2013.
She was a lifelong resident of the Falconer area since her birth at the family homestead on South Work Street.
Her love of planting flowers gave her great joy, and Shirley Temple and John Wayne movies were her favorite.
In her early 20s, she worked at WCA Hospital as a candy striper, the Pier Restaurant in Celoron, and many years at Herald Furniture in Falconer. For 27 years she was employed at Matco Tool, (formerly known as Yorktown Industries) as a brake operator, where she received several awards for her perfect attendance.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lee L. Studd and her mother, Essie R. Meabon Studd; her brother, Loris L. Studd; her sister, Lillian Wade; and son, Edward Pearman.
Surviving are her son Robert L. Watson and his wife, Rebecca L. Watson of Jamestown; her daughter, Yvonne E. Watson of Falconer; two brothers: Warren E. Studd and Marshall E. Studd, both of Jamestown and the youngest of the six, her sister, June M. Studd residing at Heritage Village, Gerry, N.Y.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Sam Shreffler, chaplain of Heritage Group, will officiate. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery on Willard Street Extension.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Friday in the funeral home.
