ALLEGANY - The American Legion Soaring Eagles evened their overall record at 8-8 after pulling away late and securing a 13-5 victory over host Allegany on Wednesday evening.
Holding a still-tenuous three-run lead entering the final frame, the Soaring Eagles plated five runs during the inning to reach the winning margin and quell any lingering Allegany hopes of a victory.
Jake Sisson led the victors with four hits, including a pair of doubles, while Nolan Hunt and Michael Wilcox each went 3-for-5.
Trent Thompson, who along with starter Adam Westley and Wilcox combined for the seven-hit, six-strikeout victory on the hill, chipped in with a pair of singles.
The Soaring Eagles are back in action on Saturday at noon. The squad will square off against Lamb Post, from Clarence, at the University at Buffalo.
