The Audubon Center & Sanctuary will present a workshop on making wire-wrapped beach glass jewelry from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27.
Instructor Christine French will teach three different techniques for creating jewelry by wrapping beach glass in wire. Participants will make three practice pieces and one final project.
First participants will learn how to wrap a piece of "practice" glass using thin wire before experimenting with heavier gage wire that can be hammered into shape. Participants will learn how to make a bezel to encase the glass with wire. Then students will be ready to create several jewelry pieces using real beach glass that comes from Lake Erie and silver wire.
The public can learn to make wire-wrapped beach glass jewelry on Saturday, July 27, at the Audubon Center & Sanctuary. Under the instruction of Christine French, participants can make three practice pieces and one final project, all beautiful enough to wear.
Chains will be provided to wear jewelry home. Those participating are welcome to bring their own jewelry pliers and any beach glass they may have.
