A Jamestown man was charged Monday after police say he left the scene of a motor vehicle accident and was intoxicated.
Charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated per se, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and unsafe lane change was Harold M. Slagle. Officers were dispatched at 12:28 a.m. to the area of West Fifth and Sixth streets for a crash involving a utility pole.
Upon arrival police found the pole snapped at the base and lying on the ground. The vehicle involved sustained heavy front-end damage. Slagle allegedly left the scene.
Officers were able to locate Slagle, 49, a short distance away with the help of witnesses. An investigation found the Jamestown man was intoxicated, police said.
No injuries were reported, a police report said.
