FREDONIA- The Green Ribbon Family Fun Fair was held recently at Fredonia Presbyterian Church.
The event was a collaborative effort among Chautauqua County Mental Hygiene's Family Support Services and Chautauqua Tapestry and allowed families to come together to recognize Children's Mental Health Awareness Month and to celebrate their children and their successes. The theme of the event was Stamping Out Stigma. There was food, games, face painting, a therapy dog and various arts and crafts.
"It was a really great way to get families together having a good time in the name of mental wellness," said Cyndi Eimers, family support services coordinator.
One of the main group activities that was important to the overall theme of the event was a poster to which everyone was able to contribute. They each took their turn putting their individual stamp on it as their way of "stamping out stigma."
Donors included Karen's Hairium, Strive Nutrition, Fredonia Massage Therapy, Facial Expressions, Upper Crust Bakery, Clark & Whipple, Tops, Zonies, Blasdell Pizza, Cattoos, Gamerz Haven, Nichols Hometown Service, Facial Expressions, Old Sarges Drop Zone, Compeer, Stanley Bike Repair and the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers. The donations consisted of various items used for giveaway baskets and prizes. Many of the baskets were put together and donated by the family support partners and volunteers. There were also door prizes of both a girl's and a boy's bike complete with helmets.
