Fresh off their selections to the first- and second-team of the New York Sportswriters Association All-State team, Frewsburg seniors Sam Mott and Shawna Raymond received a bit more good news recently.
The pair, who were instrumental in leading the Bears to their first-ever New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class C state softball title, were named to the first team of the All-Western New York squad.
Mott and Raymond, both seniors, were joined on the first team by hurlers Ryanne Dugan (Forestville) and Sara Crandall (Cattaraugus-Little Valley), shortstop Kristi Zink (Cassadaga Valley) and outfielder Alicia Deering (Fredonia).
McKenzie Cass, meanwhile, a senior centerfielder for the Bears, was an honorable mention, as were fellow seniors Kelsey Drummond of Dunkirk and Jessica Lawton of North Collins.
Also making the list as an honorable mention was junior Abby Courtney of Falconer, who despite missing considerable time during the offseason due to illness, returned just prior to the playoffs and pitched the Falconer Lady Golden Falcons to their second Section 6 Class B title in three years.
