The Toronto Swedish Folk Dance Team will be participating in the Scandinavian Folk Festival to be held July 19-21 at the Gerry Rodeo Grounds. This professional team, with their colorful folk costumes, will be part of the procession of the Midsummer pole on Saturday, July 20, at 11 a.m. They will lead the community in traditional ring dances around the pole celebrating the bright sunshine of summer. Later in the day, they will be on stage with their own folk dancing program. In the evening, during the musical extravaganza when all the festival musicians play together, the Toronto dancers will assist the audience in learning to dance the waltz, polka and schottis. On Sunday, July 21, the team will again entertain with a demonstration of their folk dancing. Jamestown's Thule Lodge Children's and Adult Folk Dance Teams will also perform.
