RANDOLPH - Marie H. Seager, 86, of Seager Hill Road, Conewango Valley, N.Y., passed away Sunday (June 23, 2013), in the emergency room of Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.
She was born Oct. 5, 1926, in Axeville Corners, town of Conewango, N.Y., the daughter of the late Clarence J. and Edna Oldro Willsie.
Marie attended Ran-dolph Central School, later receiving her G.E.D., she was a seamstress at Heritage Village in Gerry, N.Y., where she later received the volunteer of the year award in 1993, following her retirement. In years earlier, she had worked for the former Randolph Seed Company, Grossers Green House in Randolph (20 years) and Cattaraugus County Board of Elections (11 years)
She was a member of the Randolph American Legion Auxiliary Unit 181 since 1944, Conewango Baptist Church, charter member of the Conewango Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and was recognized by Senator Cathy Young, along with Anna Roberts-Smith and Mary Berg, for their many years of dedicated service to the department. Additional memberships are TP Tenders Ladies Home Bureau of Conewango, Rose Valley Grange in Conewango Valley and the Randolph Golden Keys.
She enjoyed helping her husband, Bill on the farm and mowing hay, she also loved walking and riding bikes with her late mother-in-law, Marjorie Seager, who lived to age 105, she also mowed the Axeville and Clear Creek Cemetery, and enjoyed quilting, crocheting and her flowers. She is survived by her husband, William B. "Bill" Seager, whom she married on July 29, 1978, in Steam-burg, N.Y.; a daughter, Minnie Olson and husband, Doug, of Conewango; grandchildren; Scott Olson of Jacksonville, Fla.. and Lisa Olson of Rock Hill, S.C.; sisters-in-law: Mary Hilliman of Conewango Valley, and S. Ann Seager-Maloney of South Dayton; nieces; Bridget Kashmer, Brenda Jacoba, Janet Johnson and Evelyn Parker; and special family friends: Don and Linda Millspaw of Conewango Valley.
She was preceded by her parents; an infant son, Lar-ry David Cowen; and si-blings: Sumner and Clarence J. Willsie, Ruby Watkins, Mary Town, Margery Groves, Emmeline Willibey and Edna Louise Willsie.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, in the VanRensselaer & Son Fun-eral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from the Conewango Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Lorra-inger officiating.
