BEMUS POINT - The Thule Lodge is the Swedish fellowship organization formed more than 105 years ago in the southwestern New York state. At the time of immigration to the United States, the organization was formed for the people to help each other. Today, the organization continues to preserve the Swedish heritage through events and activities. The lodge is located at 4123 Pancake Hill Road.
Recently the annual Memorial Service was held at the lodge. This is to remember those members who have died in the last year. Past district master Edwin Sandberg, and financial secretary Donna Sandberg opened the program and read the names of the departed members. Memorial music was played by assistant mistress of ceremony Bernice Veights. During the reading of the names, chaplain Diane Shaw of Cassadaga, and vice chairman of the lodge Susan W. Sipos of Cassadaga, would place a carnation on the altar in memory of the people. A blue carnation was placed in memory of Delmar Ted Fredrickson, who served as New York District master.
Following the ceremony, family members present were welcome to take a carnation with them. Thule Lodge welcomes new members.
