CASSADAGA - The Cassadaga Library Association held its annual walk around the lakes recently.
The event, which has been ongoing since 1990, features a 3-mile walk from the village beach around the lakes and concluding at the beach. The event is a fundraiser for the library, which is in the process of renovating the Cassadaga Library building.
The temperature was 49 degrees, the sun was shining and the winds were strong, but more than 100 people braved the cool temperatures to complete the walk. Following the walk, prizes donated from local businesses and individuals, were awarded by village historian John Sipos, who was dressed in his patriotic outfit. The president of the library association is Lois Franz, and the treasurer who took charge of tickets is Kathy George. Susan Sipos served as the photographer of the event. Marcia Murphy and June Woollett were in charge of the awarding of prizes after Sipos announced the recipient. Ray Haines was in charge of traffic control. Refreshments were provided and served by the Cassadaga Job Corps.
