Jan Bobseine of Cattaraugus was recently recognized as Conservationist of the Year by the Chautauqua County Federation of Sportsmen.
The award was presented at the organization's annual awards banquet held at the Lakewood Conservation Club.
Each year the sportsmen's group recognizes one individual who has excelled in the advancement of conservation and the cause of sportsmen. Bobseine was cited for her tireless support of the rights of law-abiding gun owners and of the individual freedoms guaranteed by the United States Constitution.
She is an Endowment Life Member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), and since January 2013 she has enlisted more than 100 new life members in the NRA.
She is an avid hunter, competitive shooter, and equestrian.
At the presentation it was also noted that Bobseine has passed on her values and passions to her children. She and her husband, Gary, have five grown children, all avid hunters and competitive marksmen who have careers in such diverse pursuits as conservation law enforcement, health and fitness, national security, federal law enforcement, and aviation.
The Chautauqua County Federation of Sportsmen is comprised of representatives of the many organized conservation and sportsmen's clubs in the county.The organization advocates for its many members in issues involving hunting, fishing, environmental protection, and second amendment rights.
