Cam Voss’ two-year unbeaten streak as a starting pitcher remained intact as he tossed a complete-game three-hitter with nine strikeouts in a 3-1 victory over Tonawanda in a Section 6 Class B championship game on Friday.
Alex Elderkin clinched a trip to the state meet when he cleared 6 feet, 3 inches in the high jump at the Section 6 championships. The leap was just 2 inches off the winning mark but well above the state-qualifying threshold of 6-0 and tied Terry Strong’s 1975 school record.
Mackenzie Wright qualified for the state meet in two events during the Section 6 championships last weekend, along the way setting a new Falconer record. First, she placed second in the long jump (17-2), breaking a 2009 school record, and later won the triple jump, soaring 36 feet, 7 inches.
Annie Berg belted a two-run home run in a Section 6 Class C semifinal win over Chautauqua Lake last Tuesday and had two triples and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning in a championship game victory over Cassadaga Valley on Saturday.
