Nancy J. Shafer, 49, of 49 Stewart Ave., passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 31, 2013, in WCA Hospital as the result of complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
She was born Aug. 31, 1963, in Oswego, N.Y., the daughter of Richard and Joan Anderson Hult.
She was a 1981 graduate of Jamestown High School.

She was employed by the Jamestown Public Schools as a cafeteria worker at Persell Middle School. She earlier had worked for The Resource Center at their Foote Avenue facilities.
She loved her family and thoroughly enjoyed camping, fishing and going to the races.
Surviving besides her parents of Jamestown are her husband, Brett A. Shafer, whom she married Nov. 30, 1985; two children: Stephen Richard Shafer of Jamestown and Natalie Ann Shafer at home; a brother, Timothy Hult of Los Gatos, Calif., her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Arlene and George Main; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law William Shafer.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Hinman will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
