JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
Brian M. Smyczek, 41, of 28 Liberty St., Bemus Point was charged at 8:47 p.m. on Thursday with second-degree criminal contempt. Police stopped Smyczek at Pine and East Third streets after confirming he had an outstanding warrant out of the city of Jamestown. He was found to be operating a vehicle with a female passenger whom he had a valid order of protection to stay away from. Smyczek was transported to city jail awaiting arraignment.
Tiffany N. Brown, 24, of Jamestown was charged at 3:15 a.m. on Friday with failure to keep right, use of mobile telephone, driving while intoxicated and DWI per se. Police observed a red Ford Explorer that matched the description of a suspect vehicle in an earlier incident. The vehicle was then observed driving in the wrong lane and the operator was using a mobile device while driving. After conducting a traffic stop, officers spoke with the driver, identifed as Brown. After speaking with her and a series of field sobriety tests, she was transported to the city jail. After submitting to a chemical breath test, Brown's blood alcohol content was found to be over the legal limit. She was charged and released on bail.
LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE DEPARTMENT
BUSTI - Matthew R. Kuzminski, 23, of Irvine, Pa., was charged with reckless driving, unlicensed operation, unlawful fleeing a police officer, possession of a hypodermic instrument and three speeding violations Thursday at 7:48 p.m. While on patrol, a Lakewood-Busti police officer observed a vehicle traveling 91 mph on Busti-Sugar Grove Road. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle by activating emergency lights and sirens, but the vehicle did not stop. The vehicle travled into the hamlet of Busti in excess of 90 mph, continuing on Forest Avenue toward Jamestown. Upon further investigation, Kuzminski was determined to be the operator without a driver's license. While being taken into custody, he was found to be in possession of a hypodermic needle. He was sent to Chautauqua County Jail and will appear in Town of Busti Court at a later date.
WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT
David L. McLaughlin III, 19, of Westfield was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration May 25 at 1:53 a.m. Westfield police were investigating an alleged car larceny on Union Street in the village when a description of the alleged suspect was learned. Patrols checked the area and observed a male matching the description on Elm Street. When officers attempted to speak to the male, he ran on foot from the officer. Another officer observed the suspect in some bushes near a residence on First Street. Despite the officer announcing himself multiple times, the suspect did not comply. Eventually the male was taken into custody after a foot chase through several backyards. He is set to appear in Westfield Village Court at a later date. The investigation is continuing.
Steven A. Keller, 59, of Elm Street, Westfield was charged with second-degree assault May 26 at midnight. Westfield police responded to a report of a domestic dispute at 45 Elm St. Upon arrival, officers found an 83-year-old victim who had suffered multiple lacerations and contusions to the face. Upon investigation, it was alleged that Keller caused physical injury to the victim. Keller was arraigned in Westfield Village Court and remanded to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail. He will return to village court at a later date. The victim was treated at Westfield Memorial Hospital and later released.
Daniel K. Dunmore, 22, of 49 Washington St., Westfield was charged with second-degree criminal contempt May 26 at 7:50 p.m. Dunmore was taken into custody for violating an order of protection. He was arraigned in Village of Westfield Court and released on his own recognizance. He will appear in court at a later date.
Percy Cameron, 26, of Millicent Avenue, Buffalo was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and speeding at 10:11 p.m. May 26. Police observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Upon further investigation, Cameron was determined to be the operator and her license was found to be suspended in New York state. She will appear in Village of Westfield Court at a later date.
Amanda K. Overbeck, 25, of Jamestown was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI per se and moving from lane unsafely Thursday at 11:30 p.m. Westfield police investigated an accident on South Portage Street. During the investigation it was alleged that Overbeck's vehicle had driven across the white hazard markings and struck a parked car. It was later learned that Overbeck was operating her vehicle in an intoxicated state. She will appear in Village of Westfield Court at a later date.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
HANOVER - Jeffrey M. Brodlowicz, 25, of Buffalo and Joseph M. Nosbisch, 26, of Cheektowaga were charged at 11 a.m. on Thursday with possession of open container of alcohol. Chautauqua County Sheriff Deputies were patrolling the area of Sunset Bay, town of Hanover and observed Brodlowicz and Nosbisch walking down South Shore Drive in possession of an open container of alcohol. Both were issued appearance tickets and will be in the Town of Hanover Court to answer the charge at a later date.
HANGOVER - A 16-year-old male, of Silver Creek, was charged at 12:50 a.m. in the town of Hanover parking lot, South Shore Drive, for a curfew violation. Deputies observed the 16-year-old loitering at the parking lot, who was in violation of the Hanover local curfew law. He was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Hanover Court at a later date.
CHAUTAUQUA - Thomas C. Thompson, 44, of Portland was charged with second-degree menacing Friday at 9 a.m. Officers were called after it was alleged that Thompson threatened another individual with a pair of scissors at 7620 Felton Road in Portland. Thomas was taken into custody and arraigned in Town of Chautauqua Court due to the unavailability of Town of Portland Court. He was taken to Chautauqua County Jail and held on bail. He will appear in Town of Portland court at a later date.
HANOVER - Christopher M. Capone, 18, of Buffalo was charged with underage possession of open container of alcohol at 2 p.m. Friday on South Shore Drive in Sunset Bay. Sheriff's deputies on foot patrol observed Capone with an open container of alcohol. He was issued an appearance ticket for Town of Hanover Court at a later date.
HANOVER - Shane R. Oliver, 25, of Lockport was charged with possession of an open container of alcohol Friday at 2:35 p.m. Sheriff's deputies patrolling Alleghany Road in Sunset Bay observed Oliver with an open container of alcohol in the parking area. He was issued an appearance ticket for Town of Hanover Court at a later date.
HANOVER - Ronald Viscuso, 49, of 12593 Alleghany Road, Silver Creek, was charged with second-degree menacing Friday at 8 p.m. Viscuso allegedly threatened to harm two individuals with a metal pipe. He will appear in Town of Hanover Court at a later date.
HANOVER - Stephen H. Gawronski, 24, of Dunkirk, Sarah M. Audi, 21, of Fredonia, and Joshua C. Lee, 22, of Fredonia were all charged with possession of an open container of alcohol at 4:50 p.m. Saturday. Sheriff's deputies patrolling the area of Sunset Bay observed the three with open containers of alcohol while on public property. They were all issued appearance tickets for Town of Hanover Court at a later date.
CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
GOWANDA - James Richard Freeman, 18, of 79 Johnson St., Gowanda was charged at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a violation of probation warrant by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department deputies. He was arraigned in Cattaraugus County Court and taken to the Cattaraugus County Jail with bail set at $3,000. He will appear in court at a later date.
