Fredonia's Joe Conti, Maple Grove's Wil Lockwood and Randolph's Nolan Ditcher will be making the trip to Cornell University's Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Ithaca on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, joining six other qualifiers who make up the Section 6 team roster competing in the NYSPHSAA Golf Championships.
The top nine players in Section 6 qualified for states on May 20 at Diamond Hawk Golf Course in Cheektowaga. Conti finished fifth and represents CCAA I while Lockwood was seventh and represents CCAA II West and Ditcher was ninth and represents CCAA II East.
This is also Ditcher's second trip to the states.
The upcoming event will be a 36-hole medal play tournament and a total of 11 sections will be represented.
The winning section will be determined by taking the best daily eight scores out of nine from each section and adding them up. The section with the lowest two-day total will be declared the overall winner.
The state's All-Star team will consist of 20 players and ties with the lowest two-day total score.
The top six overall finishers will then be invited to represent NYSPHSAA at the New York State Federation of Secondary School Athletic Associations event at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale on June 10.
