Maria Cali Giuffre, 87, born in Marianopoli, Sicily, on Dec. 19, 1925, passed away on May 13, 2013, in Alba, Italy, where she resided for the past year.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Angelo, whom she married in 1948; three brothers: Agostino Cali, Salvatore Cali and Michael Cali; and one sister, Grace Costa.
She is survived by three daughters: Teresa (Pino Di Minuco) in Alba, Italy, Stefana (Carmelo Montagna) in Alba, Italy, and Grazia (Enzo Giambra); two sons: Chuck (Angie) in Jamestown, N.Y., and Ross (Mary) also in Jamestown, N.Y. She is also survived by one sister, Teresa Lo Iacono of Jamestown.

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren: Lillo Di Minuco, Maria Vincenza Di Minuco, Giovanna Maria Montagna, Mimmo Montagna, Gabriella Montagna in Italy, Allessandro Giambra, Angelo Giambra, Roberto Giambra, Valentina Giambra in North Carolina, Mary Jo Giuffre in Pittsburgh, Angelo Valentino Giuffre, Giulia Giuffre, Angelo Adam Giuffre, Elizabeth Brown, Gabriella Caruso and Marinella Giuffre in Jamestown, N.Y.; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Maria was the only one of her siblings who never resided in the U.S., though she traveled here on many occasions to be with family and friends.
In Marianopoli, Sicily, she worked as a cook at the elementary schools for about 20 years. In 1988, she retired with her husband, Angelo, to Turin, Italy.
The funeral was held in Alba, Italy, on May 15, 2013.
A memorial Mass is scheduled for June 13, 2013, at 6 p.m. at Saint James Roman Catholic Church, 27 Allen St., Jamestown, N.Y.
