FREWSBURG - A 16-year-old Frewsburg teen faces zero tolerance charges for consuming alcohol under the age of 21 and operating a vehicle following a single-vehicle accident Friday evening.
Chautauqua County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the accident on Scott Road in the Town of Carroll just after 10 p.m. Upon investigation it was found that the driver of a 2000 Chevy Silverado, Timothy Stappenbeck, failed to slow down for a curve, lost control of his vehicle and crossed over the southbound lane before striking a large tree off the west side of the roadway.
Stappenbeck and his 16-year-old male passenger from Jamestown were treated at the scene by Frewsburg and Kiantone Fire Departments before they were both transported to WCA Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Stappenbeck faces charges of failure to reduce speed on curve, failure to keep right, operating out of class (class DJ after 9 p.m.) and zero tolerance for consuming alcohol under the age of 21 and operating a vehicle. According to police, Stappenbeck may face administrative action at a DMV hearing pending the outcome of a chemical blood test.
