The Tanglewood Group will be participating in the 20th anniversary celebration of National Health and Senior Fitness Day on May 29. Held annually on the last Wednesday in May, the campaign is the nation's largest annual health promotion hosted specifically for older adults.
Tanglewood will be hosting a Wellness Fair on their campus that day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held indoors.
Offerings for the day include live entertainment from noon to 3 p.m., vendors representing many different services including heath, nutrition, financial and recreational interests, free blood pressure, vision, and dementia screenings and a free picnic lunch. All visitors will have the chance to register for a drawing for a chance to win a free Kindle Fire HD. Tanglewood will also be giving away free "gently used" durable medical equipment that day.
Representatives from the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging will be offering information on advanced directives, food stamps for seniors, healthy bones and chronic disease management.
Other exhibitors include Blue Cross, Blue Shield of WNY, Amedisys, Barry Eckwahl (fly fishing), HSM Medical, JCC, Medicare Advantage, Mad Nutrition, James Prendergast Library, Chautauqua County Veteran's Association, WCA Wellness and the Wal-Mart Vision Center.
Tanglewood will also be offering golf cart tours of the campus and a free picnic lunch. Parking will be available in the company's lot off of Gifford Avenue and handicapped transportation will be available. For more information regarding the event or to host a booth please contact Patti at 338-0500.
