AKRON - No. 12 Southwestern (6-12) held a one-run lead early on, but fourth-seeded Akron got its offense in gear and ended the Trojans' season with a 7-2 victory in Section 6 Class B-2 baseball quarterfinals action on Tuesday.
Southwestern scored a pair of runs in the third to take a 2-1 lead, but Akron jumped ahead on a two-run homer, then added four more runs in the fourth.

Voss allowed a leadoff double to Kyle Petersen in the top of the first before retiring 21 of the final 24 batters he faced.
Voss allowed just three baserunners after Petersen's double to start the game - a leadoff single by Jimmy Schwab in the second, a two-out single by Jake Youngberg in the third and a one-out walk to Brandon Fish in the top of the fifth -while striking out seven.
