BEMUS POINT - Hits were hard to come by when Barker met Maple Grove for a Section 6 Class C prequarterfinal softball playoff game on Tuesday.
There were just seven total base knocks amongst the two squads, but it was the seventh-seeded Lady Red Dragons who strung the most together at precisely the right time to clinch a 4-1 victory over No. 10 Barker.
With the game knotted at a run apiece in the fifth, Maple Grove got hits, and RBIs, from Lauren Nickerson, Mackenzie Ellis, Taylor Satalino and Morgan Lehman to help it score three runs and reach the winning margin.

Ellis, the Lady Red Dragons' ace, fanned nine, scattered four hits and didn't issue a single free pass to win the duel with Barker hurler Kelsie Blackley, who took the hard-luck loss after sending four down on strikes and walking three.
Blackley tied the game 1-1 in the fifth with a solo home run.
Maple Grove will now travel to Sinclairville for a quarterfinal game with second-seeded Cassadaga Valley on Friday at 4:45 p.m.
