Summer Borysoff's single in the bottom of the first inning scored the game's only run and the Southwestern Lady Trojans edged Gowanda, 1-0, in Section 6 Class B-2 prequarterfinal softball action Saturday.
The victory sends the Lady Trojans (6-9), the No. 8 seed, into the quarterfinals at 4:45 p.m., Tuesday at No. 1 Akron.
Sydney Burk earned the win in the circle, tossing a two-hitter and striking out four. Although she walked eight, Southwestern played strong defense and Burk was able to work out of bases-loaded jams in the third and sixth innings.

The Lady Trojans scored their lone run in the bottom of the first when Shelby Lunz reached on a fielder's choice, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on Borysoff's single.
C.J. Sawtis was the tough-luck hurler for Gowanda, yielding just seven hits, striking out one and issuing no walks.
Burk led Southwestern's offensive attack with two hits.
RAIDERS FALL AT WARREN
WARREN, Pa. - The Warren Dragons scored four runs in the fifth inning to break open a tight game and edge Jamestown, 6-2, in a non-league baseball game on Saturday.
Highlighting the Dragons' rally was a two-run double by Cerra. Collin Fantaskey added a triple, but Jamestown hurlers Brett Dehner and Jake Sisson limited Warren (13-5) to six hits.
The Red Raiders (6-13) scored both their runs in the third inning on an RBI single by Bram Johnson, who later stole home on the back end of a double steal.
Sisson and Cameron Haberberger both had two hits for Jamestown, which will travel to Kenmore West on Monday for a 5 p.m. Section 6 prequarterfinal game.
