When the 24th annual P-J Champions golf tournament is held today at Cardinal Hills Golf Course, four golfers in the field will be seeking their second win in the event.
At 10 a.m., 13 men's scratch club champions from regulation 18- and nine-hole courses in The Post-Journal circulation area will begin teeing off. If there is a tie after 18 holes, a playoff will begin at No. 1.
Bringing the field to 14 is defending champion Jordan Marsh, who won the club title at Cassadaga Country Club in 2011. Marsh will not only be seeking to win The P-J Champions for the second time, but he will also be attempting to become the fourth to repeat.
Also in the field are P.J. Gronquist from South Hills Country Club, Dave Newton from Shorewood CC and Sam Marek from Blueberry Hill Golf Club. They are seeking their second P-J Champions title.
Gronquist won in 2006, Newton captured the title in 2008 and Marek was the 2011 champion.
Cardinal Hills will be providing the green fees and a light meal after nine holes for the golfers. They will receive a sleeve of golf balls from The Post-Journal, which will award silver bowls to the winner and runner-up.
