Since 2004, the Zonta Club has looked out into the community, to find a non-member who exhibits the mission of Zonta: "working together to advance the status of women."
Zonta recently held a dinner recognizing both their scholarship award recipients and their Woman in Leadership award recipient: Jane Winter of Jamestown.
Roz Newton, emcee of the evening, said: "If I read you all her achievements, recognitions and volunteer service, we will still be here tomorrow. All I can say is, 'Wow.'"

Rosie Papalia nominated Winter for the award. Born in Jamestown, Winter attended and graduated from Maple Grove High School, JCC, SUNY Oswego and SUNY Fredonia with certifications in English, reading and elementary education.
Among many distinctions with her membership in Delta Kappa Gamma, Winter was named Jamestown Interclub Council's Woman of the Year 2011, and has received multiple other community, civic, business awards and recognitions.
Winter continues several affiliations and volunteer roles within these organizations and others: Jamestown Interclub Council, YWCA, Joint Neighborhood Project, Marvin Community House, Feline Action Committee, Chautauqua County Humane Society, Chautauqua Children's Chorale.
For the Woman in Leadership award, Winter was presented with a plaque and flowers at the dinner, after which she gave a speech about her mission as a teacher to help support youths' drive for knowledge and to provide inclusion within her classroom.
