COLUMBUS, Ind. - Cummins Inc. recently announced that Mike Abbate has been named Jamestown Engine Plant manager, effective May 7 when it was announced internally. Abbate has been serving as interim plant manager since January following David Porter's transition to Cummins' High Horsepower Oil & Gas Business.
Abbate has been with Cummins for 31 years, working in several leadership roles in operations and manufacturing support roles at the Jamestown Engine Plant. For the past 10 years, Abbate served as JEP's director of materials and supply chain.
"Mike has been a strong contributor throughout his career and is very deserving of this new role," said Kevin Aker, executive director, manufacturing. "His ability to cultivate strong relationships with customers and suppliers has been integral to the success of JEP and the Engine Business. Mike's extensive supply chain and manufacturing experience along with his deep understanding of JEP's history and culture have us positioned well for continued success."
Abbate received his bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University in mechanical engineering. Abbate resides in the Jamestown area with his wife, Kathy, and their family.
