Beatrice I. "Betty" Courson, formerly of Jamestown, N.Y., and Lake Worth, Fla., died in Erie, Pa., on May 9, 2013, at the age of 96. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Lena Hodges Ingerson.
Betty grew up on Chautauqua Lake, and graduated from Lakewood High School in 1935. She was employed by the G.C. Murphy Co. and the Jamestown Telephone Co., from which she retired in 1981. In 1985 she moved to Lake Worth to live with her sister, Beulah.
While in Jamestown, Betty was a Grey Lady for the WCA Hospital and loved to roller skate, golf, bowl and paint. In Lake Worth, she was very active in the First Congregational Church which she attended.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Bennett (Thom); a son, James Courson (Nita); six grandchildren: Kelly Wegley (Peter), Mark Bratt (Tina), Michael Bratt (Danielle), Keith Courson (Wendy), Steve Courson (Katie) and Stacy Long (Steve); and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Norris Ingerson; and three sisters: Evelyn Sherman, Marguerite Maus and Beulah Bergquist.
A memorial service was held at Messiah Lutheran Church in Wesleyville, Pa. with burial in Lake View Cemetery, Jamestown, N.Y.
