Charles C. Schnars Sr., 79, of 391 Daily Hill Road, Kennedy, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013.
A lifelong area resident, he was born June 25, 1933, in Jamestown, the son of the late Harry and Ethel Hill Schnars.
Chuck worked his entire career in the local construction business, primarily as an operating engineer. Retiring in 1989, he spent his retirement years buying and selling items, everything was for sale. Chuck served in the U.S. Army from 1953 through 1955, spending three years stationed in Germany.

Chuck enjoyed working with his hands, helping others and visiting with family and friends. He was a loving father and grandfather, and will be deeply missed. Best friend to many and loved by all.
He is survived by five children: Cynthia Schnars of Charleston, S.C., Charles Schnars of Kennedy, N.Y., Tonya MacNeil of Frewsburg, N.Y., Richard Schnars of Wellington, Fla. and Barbara Turner of West Palm Beach, Fla. Also surviving are three brothers: Harry Schnars of Sugar Grove, Pa., James Schnars of Jamestown and Leslie Schnars of Falconer.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Harriet Apthorpe.
Chuck was a private individual, there will be no services. Burial will be in Ross Mills Cemetery, Falconer, NY.
