FREWSBURG - Junior Tage Johnson pitched his finest game of the baseball season for Frewsburg (7-2, 9-6) on Thursday.
Johnson allowed just a hit while striking out seven and walking five as the Bears rolled over Randolph (3-7), 14-2, to move within a half-a-game of Division 2 co-leaders Portville and Cassadaga Valley, who are both 8-2.
The only hit given up by the junior right-hander was a two-out infield single in the third inning by Kyle Brown.
Frewsburg had its hitting shoes on with 17 hits and led 6-2 entering the home sixth inning when it scored eight runs to break it open.The Bears had nine hits in that inning with a two-run pinch-hit single by Nick Long and an RBI single by Cole Brink delivering big runs.
Bryce Peterson, Trevor Spicer and Bryce Raymond all finished with three hits with Spicer and Raymond knocking in two runs and Peterson having a triple in the win.
Tage Johnson helped his own cause with three RBIs on two hits and Brett Johnson also had two hits for the Bears.
