WARREN - The Allegheny National Forest will host a stewardship contracting workshop related to upcoming opportunities on the Allegheny National Forest from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on May 18 at the Lion's Den in Sheffield.
The Lion's Den is located at the intersection of Route 6 and Route 2002, Bull Hill Road, High Street, across the steel deck bridge adjacent to the stream.
The workshop includes discussion of what stewardship contracting is and includes a "show-me trip" for the upcoming Hemlock Run Integrated Resource Timber Contract.
The intent of the workshop is to provide a brief overview of stewardship contracting and service work items, such as wildlife habitat improvement and non-native invasive plant treatment. The workshop will consist of 2 hours of classroom presentations and 2 hours of field discussion at an example work site. Lunch will be provided.
Participants should dress for the weather as the workshop will be held rain or shine.

Stewardship contracting helps achieve land management goals while meeting local and rural community needs, including contributing to the sustainability of rural communities and providing a continuing source of local income and employment. The intent of stewardship contracting is to accomplish resource management with a focus on restoration.
