On March 10, 106.9 KISS FM and Salon 1 hosted the fourth annual got pink? event at Shawbucks in Jamestown, raising $11,471 to benefit the local fight against breast cancer.
In four years, got pink? has raised and donated more than $34,000 to WCA Hospital, helping the hospital purchase new breast cancer detection equipment for the WCA Center for Imaging & Medical Arts. In 2013, all proceeds are helping to fund the purchase of 3-D Breast Tomosynthesis, an enhancement to WCA's digital mammography suite.
This year's got pink? featured live, silent and Chinese auctions; haircuts, mini-manicures, and pink extensions offered by the staff of Salon 1; a Duck Dip provided by Designer Pools; the sale of T-shirts and hats from Jamestown Cycle Shop; and live music from DJ Fish and Derek Davis & The Tasty Groove band.
The fourth annual got pink? event, hosted at Shawbucks on March 10, raised a record $11,471 to support local breast cancer care at WCA Hospital. "Thanks to another fantastic team effort, we raised the bar again this year," said Sherrie Brookmire, sales manager for 106.9 KISS-FM and event organizer.
"I want to thank Salon 1, Shawbucks, WCA Hospital, and all of the other sponsors and generous donors of this event who are helping to ensure these high-quality, lifesaving services continue to be available right here at our community hospital."
"We are so grateful for valuable partners here in our community who stand beside us to help educate, motivate and enhance local breast cancer care," said Karl Sisson, WCA director of development. "On behalf of the WCA family and the patients we serve, I want to particularly thank the event organizers whose firm commitment enables the professionals at WCA Hospital to utilize the latest technology in the detection and diagnosis of breast cancer in its earliest stages."
