The Friends of Prendergast Library will hold an organizational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the library's Fireplace Room. The group was founded in 2007 with a mission of promoting and supporting Prendergast Library.
The purpose of the meeting is to decide what future direction the group will take. The terms of three of the officers of the executive committee will be expiring in September, and the group is looking for interested persons to take over these positions. Also they are hoping to reinstate several committees that will work to aid the library in specific areas.
The library has asked the Friends volunteers to help with several upcoming events. These include the Cummins Run for Literacy on May 11, the Scrabble tournament on May 18 and the annual book sale on June 7-8, which will be held at the Jamestown Renaissance Center for the first time.
Members discuss activities at a recent meeting.
All members, as well as the general public and those interested in the Friends, are encouraged to attend Tuesday's meeting. Light refreshments will be served.
