The Jamestown Community College choir, concert band, vocal jazz ensemble, and jazz ensemble will showcase a variety of music styles during a combined performance Tuesday. The JCC rock ensembles perform May 9.
Both concerts will be performed in JCC's Scharmann Theatre. Admission to each concert is $4 for the general public; $3 for area students and senior citizens; and $2 for the JCC Faculty Student Association members. Tickets can be purchased by calling the JCC box office, 338-1187, or online at campusstore.sunyjcc.edu.
Tuesday's concert features the college choir, directed by Brian A. Bogey. Selections include "Hallelujah" from "Mount of Olives," "In These Delightful Pleasant Groves," "Order My Steps," "Over the Rainbow," "Corner of the Sky" from Pippin, "The Wind Beneath My Wings" and a choral selection from "Carousel."
The vocal jazz ensemble, directed by Michael F. Kelly, will present "Trickle, Trickle," "Eleanor Rigby," "I Can't Believe That You're in Love With Me" and "Got to Get You Into My Life."
Ralph Rasmusson will direct the jazz ensemble in its performances of "Birth of the Blues," "It Might As Well Be Swing," "The Chicken" "Teddy the Toad" and "Every Day I Have the Blues."
The concert band, also directed by Rasmusson, will present "Pas Redouble," "Poet and Peasant Overture," "Sabre and Spurs," "Amazing Grace," selections from Les Miserables and "American Variations."
Thursday, May 9, the JCC rock ensembles, directed by Bill Eckstrom, will present their Spring Jam featuring rock to acoustic sets. The concert will be fully staged with sound and lighting by Steve Gustafson.
