SALAMANCA - A Salamanca resident is facing numerous sexual abuse charges stemming from incidents dating back to 2002.
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office charged Leonard W. Redeye Jr., 71, of Center Road, with six counts of felony first-degree sexual abuse and three counts of second-degree sexual abuse. The charges came after an investigation by the sheriff's office.
Deputies said Redeye allegedly engaged in sexual contact with several children under the ages of 14 on multiple occasions. The sexual contact began in 2002, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Redeye was taken into custody Monday at 1:30 p.m.
The felony charges are the result of sexual contact by Redeye against children under the age of 11. The remaining charges are misdemeanors.
Redeye was arraigned in Salamanca Town Court. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to be back in town court for further proceedings.
