ALLEGANY - Southwestern held a two-run advantage going into the final inning, but Allegany-Limestone (2-2) came through in the clutch and the result was a 10-9 win over the Lady Trojans (1-3) in Division 1 softball on Tuesday afternoon.
Early on, the Lady Gators held a 3-1 lead, but Southwestern battled back to score five runs in the third to take a 6-3 lead. Allegany-Limestone responded with two more runs to make it 6-5 and both scored two more runs in the sixth.
The Lady Trojans were up 9-7 as the seventh inning began, but couldn't hold off the Lady Gators who came through with three runs for the victory,
Mariah Monroe, who entered the game in the third inning, picked up the win.
Southwestern had 14 hits total as Taylor Brecht and Jenna Rauh both had two hits and Alex Sullivan connected for two doubles and three RBIs.
Britta Johnson went four innings in earning the loss for Southwestern with three walks and three strikeouts. Sydney Burk relieved Johnson in the fifth and surrendered six walks and had two strikeouts.
OLEAN TOPS FALCONER
FALCONER -Rachel Painter led a 15-hit attack when Olean took care of Falconer.
Painter stroked three hits and was among six players to have two hits or more as the Lady Huskies (3-2) prevailed over Falconer (3-2), 17-4.
Eliza Weatherby, Maddy Stavish, Monica Moses, Emily Smith and Katee Anastasia all had two hits for the winners. Moses and Smith cracked triples, Weatherby and Stavish doubles while Ally Pakus clubbed a two-run home run in the seventh inning.
Brianna McFall lashed three hits and Kaylee Keith two with one being a double in the loss.
