The Rev. Claude A. Eggleston, 92, of Goodrich Street, Ripley, died Friday, April 19, 2013.
Claude was born in Erie, Pa., on Oct. 20, 1920, to Claude S. and Eva Woodin Eggleston.
He was a graduate of Lakewood High School and Baptist Bible Seminary, at that time in Johnson City, N.Y.

He started his ministry as a Bible Club missionary teaching Bible clubs with his wife in the schools of the Finger Lake Region. He pastored three churches in New York state: the Sempronius Bible Church, Niobe Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Ripley, where he remained an active member since retirement.
He served for many years on the board of Bethany Camp, Sinclairville, N.Y. He also served on the board of the Ripley Community Heritage Foundation. He was an active member of the Ripley Senior Center having served as chaplain.
He enjoyed beekeeping, fishing, hunting, gardening and canning. He found great satisfaction in providing for others from the abundance of his harvest. He also enjoyed competitive games.
Most of all, he loved the Lord Jesus Christ,. He actively shared his faith, memorized scripture, gave sacrificially and served through his local church.
Surviving are his wife, Janice Ireland Eggleston, whom he married June 15, 1944; four daughters: Sandra Heim (late Neil), Lima, Peru, Lynette Warner (Walter), Port Crane, N.Y., Lois Harman (Ken) Graham, N.C., and Anita Mencer (Tom) Ripley; two sons: Dr. Gary Eggleston (Cindy) Westfield, N.Y., and the Rev. Donald Eggleston (Terri) Ripley, N.Y. He also has 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Fred Eggleston, Ashville, N.Y.; and a sister, Joyce Parker, Sugar Grove, Pa.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Eggleston; and sisters: Marguerite Range, Geraldine Groves, Mary Landin and Audrey Eggleston.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 26, at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist of Ripley. There will be a time to visit with family before and after the service, 6-9 p.m.
