GERRY - The PRCA has notified the Gerry Rodeo Committee that they are extending the registration deadline for the free Rodeo Camp to be held on Saturday until Friday at 6 p.m.
Julie Jutten, the director of the nationwide camps, says that the response for the Gerry event has been outstanding with more than 30 "would-be" cowboys ranging in age from third grade to 32 have registered. Because the interest is so high, she doesn't want to see anyone left out so registrations are still being accepted.
This free event begins at 9 a.m. at the Gerry Fire Hall and will move to the rodeo arena later, concluding at 3 p.m. with lunch provided. It is open to anyone age eight or older.
The camp is one of 13 nationwide and one of only two east of the Mississippi. Its purpose is to promote the sport of rodeo by providing instruction and encouragement by professional cowboys in pro rodeo's rough stock events.
New York State's two rodeo queens will also be making an appearance.
To register, go to the Gerry Rodeo website at www.gerryrodeo.org and click on the Free Rodeo Camp page. If you have questions or need help with the registration, call 985-4215.
