Ruth E. Case, 95, of Cherry Creek, formerly of the High Rise, Jamestown, passed away Tuesday (April 16, 2013) in Buffalo General Hospital.
A lifelong area resident she was born March 15, 1918, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Albert and Olga Lindahl Larson.
Ruth attended Jamestown High School and was employed by Weber Knapp for 26 years retiring in 1980. Ruth was also employed by the former Bigelow's Department Store and Staff Builders Health Care.
She was a member of the Civic Orchestra in the early 1950s where she played violin and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Ruth loved tending to her flowers and houseplants and they thrived under her care. She also enjoyed doing needle work, crocheting and other crafts.
Surviving are two sons: Sigurd M. (Barbara) Case of Frewsburg, James V. (Rhea) Case of Cherry Creek; four grandsons: Brian (Kathy) Case of Barto, Pa., Nathan (Denise) Case of Vineland, N.J., Chris (Tammy) Case of Surf City, N.C., and Jeffrey (Jackie) Case of Angola, N.Y.; a great-granddaughter, Kelsey Case (her mother Elizabeth Case) of Jamestown; three great-grandsons: Jeremy Case and Brandon Case both of Surf City, N.C., and Collin Case (his mother Ivy) of Jamestown; and her sister, Barbara (Phil) O'Brien of Kennedy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Case, whom she married July 19, 1940, in Jamestown, who died Nov. 14, 1995, and a brother, Robert S. Larson in 1990.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel Nagle will officiate. Burial will be in Panama Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
