At the last meeting of the Frewsburg Lions Club, Tina Jones, disaster service manager for the Southwestern New York Chapter of the Red Cross, spoke about how the emergency services provided by the Red Cross are carried out. The Southwestern Chapter covers Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties. From this chapter there are 100 volunteers who are available for emergencies when called on. Several from this area were among the 17,000 volunteers from across the United States who responded after Hurricane Sandy. Jones was introduced by Dennis Williams, program chairman. Lions President Gary Wells presented her with a donation from the Frewsburg Lions.
At the business meeting, Mike Wells distributed tickets for the spaghetti dinner to be held on Saturday, April 27. The dinner will be at the Firemen's Blue Building from 5-7 p.m. De Warn enlisted members for the Adopt-A-Highway project to be completed by Saturday. Don Dove stated that more seedlings are needed for the town park. The club approved purchase of 10 additional trees. Wells and Dove will take part in the annual Journey for Sight event to be held on May 4 at Goat Island State Park at Niagara Falls.
