Jamestown Community College's music students and faculty will present recitals in Scharmann Theatre during April.
The programs, free and open to the public, are presented by JCC's arts, humanities, and health services division and Faculty Student Association.
The JCC faculty recital, which begins at 2 p.m. Sunday, features Brian A. Bogey as the accompanist. The program opens with performances of "Sonntag," "She never Told Her Love," "Try to Remember," and "All of Me" by Ralph Rasmusson, tenor saxophone; Bill Eckstrom, guitar; Carol Svensen, piano; Spencer Drake, bass; Basil Gedz, drums; and Michael F. Kelly, baritone.
Curt Barnes, on clarinet, and Ms. Svensen, piano and vocals, will perform "Strange Meadowlark" and "I Get A Kick Out of You," followed by a presentation of "Springtime" by Richard Lundquist on euphonium and "Concerto for Clarinet" by Rasmusson.
"Arabesque No. 1" and selections from Grieg will be featured by pianist Cathy Gagliano. "Thanks For Staying," will be performed by Eckstrom on guitar.
Rachmaninoff's "Polichinelle Serge," presented by Bogey on piano, is followed by tenor James Beal who will sing three songs by Samuel Barber including "Now Have I Fed and Eaten Up the Rose," "A Green Lowland of Pianos," and "O Boundless, Boundless Evening."
Folk and gospel selections by Eckstrom and the Blue Lizard Trio and several Beatles songs, performed by Oh, The Humanities - Steve Gustafson and Eckstrom, guitar; Colin Shafer, piano; Colin Braeger, bass; and Bob Volpe, drums will conclude the program.
The student recital begins at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21. JCC adjunct music faculty member Cathleen Gagliano will be the accompanist.
Scheduled to perform are Brandon Timmerman, piano, student of Carol Svensen; Carl Brewer, tenor; Alex Underwood, Jake Shearer, Shaughn Bryant, baritones; and Kaitlyn Bowen, Victoria McIlvain, and Karimah Rahman, sopranos, students of James Beal; Micah Terrill, French horn, student of Richard Lundquist; Jessica Carson, bass clarinet, and Riley Gustafson, clarinet, students of Ralph Rasmusson; Charles Haluska, guitar, student of Bill Eckstrom; Hannah Jenks and Erin Arsenault, sopranos, students of Kathy Black; Cole Garifi, piano, student of Andrew Schmidt; and Jennie Cross, flute, student of Amy Cross.
