FREWSBURG - Residents of the Frewsburg Rest Home lifted their glasses on Friday in celebration of a newly remodeled Beauty Shop.
"This was an inside job from the very beginning," said Stephanie Scott, beautician. "We talked about this with the women and men of the home for months, getting their thoughts and ideas regarding the remodeling."
"When it came time to purchase the paint, supplies and accessories, a decision was made do the work ourselves," said owner Steve Sischo. "When Stephanie and one of our medication aides, Amy Munday, volunteered to do the painting themselves, I was shocked."
The beauty shop inside the Frewsburg Rest Home has been newly remodeled.
Coming in on their own time, they transformed the shop with three lavender walls, a beauty shop themed wide border and an accent wall in red. New charcoal-colored carpet finishes the look.
"The combination sounds strange," said resident, Jean Gustavson, "but you have to see it to believe it, it's looks terrific."
Accessories include a 3-foot high, 5-foot wide, custom-made accent mirror.
"This may be a small project relatively speaking," said Dennis Bechmann, administrator, "but that doesn't mean we can't celebrate it in a big way."
The celebration included refreshments, music and gift basket giveaways for the residents. Everyone who visited the beauty shop received a gift.
