FINDLEY LAKE - A Sherman man faces numerous driving charges after police found him slumped over in a vehicle in the middle of the road.
Sheriff's deputies on Friday charged Christian R. Kinney, 24, with driving while intoxicated after coming across his vehicle around midnight on Conway Road in the town of French Creek. Police initially found Kinney's vehicle running with the lights on in the travel lane.
After investigating, police found Kinney slumped over the driver seat apparently unconscious. Open containers of alcohol were visible in the vehicle's cup holder, a police report said.
Once awake, Kinney was administered a field sobriety test, which police said he was unable to perform safely. As he was being taken into custody, deputies found a switchblade knife on Kinney and marijuana in the vehicle.
The Sherman resident was transported to the Sheriff's Office in Mayville and was found to have a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or greater.
Kinney was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of marijuana, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and parking on a highway. He was released the next morning to a sober individual and will be in French Creek Court at a later date.
