To say that Kyle Grey has had a nice start to his junior baseball season at Fredonia State would be a huge understatement.

Grey (Frewsburg/Frewsburg) has been named the ECAC Division III Upstate and SUNYAC Pitcher of the Week for his performances in relief last week.
The left-hander earned a win and a save while logging 9 innings with no earned runs and six strikeouts. Against NAIA opponent Freed-Hardeman, Grey surrendered two unearned runs and, the next day, he picked up a 5-4 win over Houghton by retiring all 13 batters he faced while the Blue Devils rallied from a 4-1 deficit.
Grey's third appearance last week resulted in a three-inning save in a 5-2 victory over Medaille. He struck out four, walked one and allowed one hit.
For the season, the 2010 Frewsburg Central School graduate is 1-0, allowing three hits and no earned runs in 12 innings pitched. In addition, he's struck out nine, walked one and his batting average against is .079.

Midfielder Ben DeMarco (Jamestown/Jamestown) had four goals and two assists when the Alfred University men's lacrosse team split two games last week with a 22-8 win over visiting Medaille and a 22-8 loss at home to Stevens in the Saxons' Empire 8 opener.
For the season, DeMarco, a junior, has 14 goals, seven assists and 34 shots, including 23 on goal.
The Saxons are 6-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Senior Erin Kling (Jamestown/Jamestown) broke another longstanding California University of Pennsylvania record last weekend at the North Carolina State Raleigh Relays.

Kling set the school record, qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships and placed 12th overall in the 5,000 meters, posting a time of 18 minutes, 4.93 seconds to shatter the previous school record set by Gwen VanDine in 1984 by more than 14 seconds. Two weeks ago, Kling eclipsed the school-best mark in the 3,000 meters, which was also set by VanDine in 1984.

Freshman Connor Grey and junior Asa Johnson, both Frewsburg Central School graduates, have combined for a 2-2 record for the St. Bonaventure University baseball team.
Grey (1-2) has a 2.92 earned-run average in seven appearances, all in relief. In 12 innings pitched, he's given up 13 hits, five runs, four earned, walked three and struck out six.
Asa Johnson (1-0) has appeared in six games, including three starts, and worked 26 innings, striking out 17 and walking nine.
Offensively, freshman Thad Johnson (Jamestown/Frewsburg) and red-shirt sophomore Bret Heath (Jamestown/Jamestown) have also seen action. Thad Johnson has played in 17 games, including 16 starts, and has 11 hits in 54 at-bats, including a double and five RBIs. Heath had three doubles and seven RBIs in 16 games, including 14 starts.
The Bonnies are 7-13 at last report, including 2-4 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
