MYRTLE BEACH, S. C. - Jamestown opened up its baseball season with a tough defeat in the Mingo Bay Baseball Classic on Tuesday.
The Red Raiders outhit the South Charleston, W.Va., 8-1, but lost on a passed ball in the bottom of the sixth inning, 2-1.
Jamestown tied it at 1-1 in the fourth as Jeff Miller singled and was brought home by an Alex Guzman's single. Austin Sanstock singled in the South Charleston second for the lone hit and came home on a wild pitch.
Adam Westley went 5 innings for Jamestown in which he fanned four and walked four in taking the loss. Brett Dehner went the final innings.
Jake Sisson swung the bat well with three hits while Bram Johnson, Bo Brooks and Dehner delivered singles for the Red Raiders.
Jamestown meets Liberty, W.Va., at 5 p.m. today
