MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Cassadaga Valley began the baseball season on a disappointing note by losing its opener to East Clarendon, S.C., 13-0, in the Mingo Bay Baseball Classic on Tuesday night.
The Cougars received two singles from J.B. Boughton and one from Dakota Morano and Tage Reuther.
Ken Oakes went four innings and allowed just an earned run with three strikeouts and a walk.
In the fifth, East Clarendon, playing its 15th game this season, took advantage of eight walks and three wild pitches to score nine runs. The winners had scored two in the second and two more in the fourth.
Cassadaga Valley plays Section 3 foe Fabius-Pompey from the Syracuse area at 12:30 p.m. today.
